Getting Around Houston

Halloween & Party Expo Houston Transportation Guide

Travelling between the Halloween & Party Expo, your hotel, and hotspots around Houston has never been easier. Once you’ve arrived at your hotel you will find access to the convention center a breeze: Guests at the Hilton can travel between the center and their hotel through the skywalks located on floors two and three, while guests at all other reserved-block hotels can catch complimentary shuttles between the main entrances of their hotels and the show.

As for travel to the many dining and entertainment options throughout Houston (neighborhood guides and restaurant listings available on the Houston Information page of the Halloween & Party Expo website), there are a number of great options from which to choose.

Cabs – Six in the City
You can thank former Houston Mayor Bill White and the Houston City Council for creating a program which maintains a flat $6 cab fare within the downtown region bounded by I-45, I-10 and US 59. The fare is applicable to any pickups and destinations within the stated region and is not affected by meter reads or number of passengers. The $6 fare includes one pick-up and one drop-off and does not include a tip, which is appreciated by drivers, but not required. Cash is accepted in all cabs, but if you are paying by credit or debit card, be sure to confirm with the driver that (s)he is equipped to handle such transactions.

Houston Wave Jitney Shuttle
The Houston Wave has now been operating for over two years and has rapidly expanded its routes of service. Riders may wave down the shuttle or wait at any designated stops throughout the city. Additionally, free parking is offered on the corner of Houston and Memorial Streets for Wave riders. Fares range from $5 one way within one neighborhood, to $15 for a night of unlimited rides across any of their routed neighborhoods. Wave shuttles cover the Washington Corridor as well as Downtown, Midtown, Uptown, Montrose, Kirby and The Heights.

REV Eco-Shuttle
The REV Eco-Shuttle is Houston’s only all-electric jitney service and serves the Downtown and Midtown areas, as well as the Washington Corridor. Fares are a flat $5 within any one neighborhood, or between $7 and $14 when travelling between neighboorhoods. While riders may wave down a REV Eco-Shuttle, the limited number of shuttles in service makes calling ahead an ideal choice. All shuttles seat five passengers and operate until 3 a.m., Thursday through Saturday.

METRORail – Bus and Rail
The METRORail trains are one of the most noticeable additions to downtown for Houston travelers. The light-rail opened in 2004 and crisscrosses through the streets of Downtown and Midtown, serving approximately 34,000 riders a day. With fares at only $1.25, it is the most affordable means of public transportation in Houston and is an excellent choice for travelers requiring a stop just slightly too distant to walk.

Enterprise Rent-a-Car®
For attendees anticipating a substantial amount of travel around the city during the Expo, a rental car from Enterprise Rent-a-Car® is an excellent choice. Discounted rates for Halloween & Party Expo attendees begin as low as $15.12 a day and offer unlimited mileage. Rental cars may be picked up at either Houston airport, or from any Enterprise Rent-a-Car® location in North America.
